What Do We Do?
Neighborhood stewards are community members who organizing in their neighborhood to share information, resources, and support. We create a network with our neighbors by sharing what we can, and asking for what we need. Mutual aid is solidarity, not charity. Anyone can be a neighborhood steward, no prior experience is necessary.
As a leader in your neighborhood, you are a point of contact for your neighbors for the wider Mutual Aid Tompkins (MAT) network. MAT is a network of volunteers, resources, and community leaders, ensuring everyone has the connections and capacity to meet their basic human needs.
Neighborhood stewards are also highly encouraged to find other neighbors who want to help lead. Sharing responsibility makes your pod, or neighborhood network, stronger and more resilient.
