What are the Food Cabinets?

Community members have set up blue outdoor food cabinets across the region. These cabinets are regularly stocked with non-perishable food and household items, and are open to anyone, 24/7.
“Take what you need, leave what you can”
Who Can Donate?
Anyone!
What can I Donate?
It depends on the weather!
Non-perishable, shelf stable items are best: Cereal, tuna, peanut butter, jelly, Rice-a-Roni, sugar, powdered milk, instant oatmeal
*In hot weather, please don’t put perishable items like greens
*In freezing weather, please don’t put cans or glass items (which expand/contract, eventually bursting or breaking the seal and becoming messy and unsafe)
Other items always appreciated: toilet paper, paper towels, menstrual items, shampoo, soap, etc.
What should I not put in the cabinets?
Please don’t put clothes, toys, dishes, books etc in the cabinets. The doors are often left open and items get wet and unusable. Volunteers have to clean up these messy items. Please donate these items elsewhere.
